So I am looking to dive into the world of PC gaming without breaking the bank, and I need some advice. I have been hearing mixed opinions about whether it is better to build a PC or just buy a pre-built one, especially when you are on a budget.
I know that building might save me a few loonies, but the idea of picking out the right components feels a bit overwhelming. I would love to hear from you guys who have some experience in this.
I am aiming to play the latest games like Cyberpunk 2077 and maybe get into something like Fortnite. My plan is to keep my budget around $1000 CAD, including peripherals if possible.
Is that realistic? I know cutting-edge graphics cards can be pretty pricey, so maybe there are some decent alternatives that will not cost an arm and a leg.
I have read on Reddit and other forums that building your own could be cheaper if you can find the right deals on parts. But then there is this thing about bottlenecks...
I am kind of worried about that. Is there a simple way to make sure my build runs smoothly without any major bottlenecks? I do not want to end up with a setup that is slower than I expect because one part is lagging behind.
I am also a bit impatient, so waiting forever to find components on sale might not be ideal for me. How do you guys manage that?
Do you keep an eye on prices over a long period, or are there specific times you know to be better for buying? Also, I wonder if the holiday sales genuinely offer good deals, or is it mostly just hype?
There is also the fear of messing up while assembling the parts. It is the first time I am attempting something like this. Should I just bite the bullet and go for a pre-built one instead?
The peace of mind might be worth it. I guess another option could be to find someone local in Toronto who could help or guide me through the process.
Has anyone done that before? If you have any specific build suggestions or links to guides, I would highly appreciate it. I came across a few people recommending checking out this thread on Reddit.
Is it a good starting point? I am all ears for any kind of advice or tips you might have. Thanks a bunch, really looking forward to your suggestions. I hope to get gaming soon without any regrets about my decisions. Cheers!
