What makes a killer high-end PC build?

I have been thinking about building a high-end PC, but I am not entirely sure what specs I should be focusing on. I know there are heaps of options out there for CPUs, GPUs, and RAM, but it is all a bit overwhelming.

I have been using a mid-range setup for a few years, but with the latest games and software demanding more power, I reckon it is time for an upgrade.

I have been eyeing the NVIDIA RTX 4080 for a GPU since I have heard it is a beast for gaming and graphical work, but are there others I should be considering?

Not just for raw power, but also for something that would have decent longevity. I am not planning to overclock much, so I am looking for stability and performance right out of the box.

What about the CPU? I have seen a lot of folks talking about the Intel Core i9 series and AMD's Ryzen 9, but I am torn between the two.

Is there a noticeable difference in real-world performance, or is it more about personal preference? Also, I am thinking about getting at least 32GB of RAM to keep things smooth, especially if I dive into data science tasks on the side.
