Worth Getting a $600 Gaming PC Nowadays?

So I am debating if it is worth dropping $600 on a gaming PC right now. I have been looking at different builds and pre-builts around this price range, and I am just not sure if it is the best bang for my buck. I am really into gaming, but I am not looking to run everything on ultra settings or anything crazy like that. I want something that can handle games smoothly at decent settings. I am also considering if I should build it myself or just go for a pre-built. I have checked out some discussions about whether it is cheaper to build or to buy, like the one on Reddit, but I am still undecided.

The thing is, I tried putting together a parts list last night and got pretty frustrated. The prices seemed all over the place, and I could not figure out if I was getting a good deal or not. Plus, I am not too sure what specs should be my priority to avoid bottlenecks. I remember reading something about checking for bottlenecks on Reddit but it made my head spin a bit. I found a GTX 1660 Super but worried it might be overkill for my needs, or maybe it is just right and I am overthinking. i am mainly looking to play games like Apex and Valorant, so I want to make sure it can handle those without issues.
